Questions Local Families Ask

Do you tutor in person or online?

Sessions are currently one-on-one and online — no driving to Sherman or Ada after school. In-person group classes in Durant are in development; join the waitlist above to hear when local seats open.

My child is in middle school and still struggles to read. Can you help?

That's my specialty. Many students in grades 5–8 can sound out simple words but stall on longer ones, read without expression, and forget what they've read. I use a structured-literacy approach designed for older students who missed foundational skills.

Do you work with homeschool families?

Yes. I homeschool my own teenager and work with homeschool families across the region — as a weekly reading specialist, or by coaching you through the Reading Playbook.

What does tutoring cost?

Reading remediation is $15 per session and ESL is $10 per session — materials included, no packages, no hidden fees. The first 30-minute assessment lesson is free.

Can you diagnose dyslexia?

No — a formal dyslexia evaluation is a job for a licensed specialist. What I provide is structured, systematic reading instruction of the kind recommended by the science of reading, which benefits struggling readers whether or not they have a formal diagnosis.
